The Second Mouse

“Don't put your confidence in powerful people; there is no help for you there.” (Psalms 146:3 NLT)

I’ve heard it said, "It's not what you know; it's who you know." If you rub shoulders with the "right" people you'll go far in life. While I'm grateful that I've had the favor of influential men and women of God, I'm only connected to them for the sole purpose of advancing HIS kingdom. Our platforms are for proclaiming the gospel, not for promoting our goods. All ministry activity must point toward Jesus Christ and the saving of souls. This brings glory to God and fruit from our labor. God’s Word strongly advises against being tied to ambitious and driven people (Proverbs 23:6-8). Typically, they are prone to love things and use people rather than love people and use things. The elite often deplete. Trusting in man-made systems to advance our agenda always ends in disappointment. STOP following “climbers” who won’t take you up with them. They’ll only use you for selfish gain. Racing, clawing, and jockeying for recognition is a rat race that eventually leads to a trap (Proverbs 29:25). Remember, it’s the second mouse that usually gets the cheese.
